How is Seedling Financial Ministry different from other financial institutions?
Seedling Financial Ministry is not a financial institution. Seedling is a separate account designated within the Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church, which is organized as a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Seedling is not a distinct legal entity separate from the Conference.
Seedling exists primarily to extend loans to churches to acquire, construct, renovate and repair church property (including parsonages). While other financial institutions focus on the money, our focus is on the ministry. You earn interest on your investments, knowing that your money is working to make an impact beyond your local church.
Is my investment insured by the FDIC or another government agency?
No. An investment in our Certificates is not a deposit or certificate of deposit of a bank, savings and loan association, credit union or other financial institution subject to supervision by federal or state banking regulators. Therefore, an investment in the Certificates is:
- Not insured by the FDIC or NCUA;
- Not issued or guaranteed by a bank or other financial institution; and
- Subject to investment risks, including loss of some or all of the principal amount and accrued but unpaid interest.
